Celebrating Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week at CUW

Graduate students play a vital role in shaping the academic, professional, and research landscape of universities across the country. Each year, Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSA) provides an opportunity to recognize the hard work, dedication, and impact of graduate and professional students. At Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), we are proud to celebrate the contributions of our online doctoral students who are advancing in their careers while furthering their education.

The History of Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Weekhat to Expect

Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week was established in 1993 by three student activists—Tony Rosati (Georgetown University), Gina Pearson (American University), and Anne Holt (Florida State University)—as part of the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS). Their goal was to highlight the significance of graduate and professional students through a nationwide initiative, supported by endorsements from state governments.

Since then, universities across the United States have celebrated GPSA week during the first full week of April, acknowledging the dedication and achievements of graduate students in various fields. This year, GPSA week will take place from April 7-11, 2025.
